 All,
I know i've said it before but, If you check your local electrical
contractors you can get old high intensity discharge light ballast's,
These things are incredible when wound for filient trannys, the 400 watt
units can push 30 amp when wired right. the 1000 or 1500 watt units can
power some very healthy transmitting tubes, or could be set-up for
ballast inductors for pt's or pigs. The high pressure odium ballast are
a work of art, a pick of one is at the very bottom right of pick, very
promising design here? above pick is of the 100 amp unit beside an
adjustable 200 amp drive inductors.

Bottom left is a 400 watt (smaller) and 1000 watt (big with multi tap
wiring) High intensity discharge ballast's that were gotten for free
after dumpster diving behind a lighting contractors shop. the 100 amp
adjustable current inductor in the bottom centre pick came from a motor
control drive i found in the garbage, shims adjust he inductance (the
red phenol board), it is wound with 1\4" x 1\2" flat mag wire.
I truthfully say that once you see one of these 50# beasts, you will
understand my excitement!
take care,
Marc M.
