Justin,

By the size of the thing, it doesnt sound too suitible a transformer for
telsa coil use. It is very likely to be a new type high frequency
transformer, which will not be useful. The label will probably read
something like :

240V 1.5A 50Hz Input
9kV 20mA 20kHz Output

If it is not that detailed, then draw a power arc. A high pitched squeal
that changes with spark length indicated a solid state xfmr, and means that
it is unsuitible for TC work. A loud 60Hz buzz will show that it is indeed
suitible.

Assuming its not however, then the only way to find out what it's current
rating is, is to short out the terminals, connect the primary to the mains
in series with an ammeter, and measure the current draw.
