42l's not too bad!

Alright,

When this week started, i thought i was out of about 170 in caps. Well as
it turns out, all the caps that i had figured to be bad, actually work
pretty darn good! Heres what have:

1 string of 20, .15uf 1200v 42l caps. Running on a 12/30 NST with about 24"
streamers. Cant tell if they get warm, too hard to sense with my hands and
even my face.

1 string of 23, .33uf 1200v caps on a 12/60 coil. About 3 foot arcs. These
were the caps that i sent to Terry about 4 days ago. They were burning up
at the endplates with only 20 in series. With 23, i can run the coil
reliably, and get some rather nice arcs. They get a very slight warmth to
them, doesnt feel to serious though. Hardly noticeable, really.

1 string of 24, .68uf 1200v caps. These are the tough ones! Im running
with a 15/120 PSU. I get pretty good 5 foot arcs to the ground. These guys
run cool!

So, i wont reccomend the 42l's, but i have had some success now. Like Terry
said, they are like a fuse. They work fine until you push the amps, then,
poof! I have also used .068uf 3000v caps, for about 1 year now, no
problems, and i only use 1 string of 10 on a 15/30.
