I agree.  Most beginners (including myself at one time) are very particular
about counting the turns on their
primary.  Its best to just use either software (or equations) to get a size
of your coil taking diameter, aspect ratio,
wire gauge, resonant frequency into account and then just winding it.  Every
coil I've ever wound was always within 5-10% of my planned inductance /
resonant frequency that I planned for.
