I actually replaced the transformers with 2 new ones
and have not been able to get similar performance
with arrangments of new new or new old ect..
Each of the 8 legs on the 4 transformers drops a spark into the
grounded caseing from a similar distance.
Thats about the extent of my testing.
Unless you count hooking the Jacobs ladder up to random
arrangements of the 4x 12000v30ma neons, which worked fine.
Anyway I wraped 2 coils to set up a 1/2 wave system. Either one will work 
to test the original against.

I kinda thought the same thing as Matt untill I got new transformers.
