Lighting bulbs experimentation and pics!

Original poster: "by way of Terry Fritz <teslalist-at-qwest-dot-net>" <CoolCorals-at-aol-dot-com>

Hello,
I am a newbie coiler, just recently got my first TC running. I have
had earlier postings on help with tuning and also had asked questions about
lighting bulbs with TC's.
Quickly, my coil is run on a 6/30 neon, 3 series static gap (open as
wide as ballast will fire) 7 turn solenoidal 6ga primary, 2.3"x22.3"
secondary and a 4x13" toroid. I have not got this totally where I am happy
with the tuning. I am going to re make my primary with 1/4" tubing inverse
cone at 30*. Anyway, I can pull 9" sparks to ground and that's it. My
resonant frequency is about 525khz.

Here's some pics of bulbs I have lit. Oh, and a 40 watt fluorescent tube
will light up almost exactly 6' around the coil.

1. Here's a neat pic from tuning. There's a copper pipe, a steel ball and
a weird jello mold on top. This just looked kinda wild.

2. Here's a cool pic of a candle. The sparks come straight out of the top
of the flame!

3. Here's a couple of pics using and old "medical quack UV bulb" from
those old electrotherapy kits. The bulb is most straight with one
electrode at the top.

4. Here's a couple of pics showing a 175watt Metal Halide bulb!!!!!!! The
first pic is just on the top, and the second with a ring wire above.

5. Here's a nice pic of a plasma ball placed on top. I had an old one
where the supply was bad but the bulb was good, so "on the TC it goes".

6. Here's another neat pic of an old neon bulb. This bulb is from the
50's and was meant to run on standard AC. Looks similar here, just a lot
brighter!

7. Finally, here's my personal favorite. This is an incandescent bulb
10watt. There is 2 pics, one again just on top and the other with a ring
above.
You can see that the gas has been excited to the point of luminosity
and the stem is glowing blue!! This is a working bulb, and there IS a
filament in there, it doesn't even get warm!?

Thanks, Will have some more pics soon! Does anyone else have some pics
like these? What do you guys think?

Thanks, Brad K. Newbie
