RE: Help

Well Emmett, the way I did it was as follows. I got a 15 m roll of Cu
tubing and it sort of had a basic shape of a primary deck when spread
out, but, even so on a piece of plywood I drew out where nails would
need to be positioned to give the form I needed for the primary. I
split the circle into 32 sectors, I calculated the distance on every
line that each nail needed to be from the centre. Yes, with 15 turns I
needed 480 nails. Once this was done I wound the Cu tube onto the nails
and this gave me my winding shape.

For my supports, I used acrylic and drilled holes in the appropriate
positions and then cut the tops of the holes off (~1/4 of the diameter).
I cut just enough off that I had to force the Cu tube into the holes, so
as they did not pop out again. Once in they did not come out and I have
not put anything on top of the tube to hold them in place.

I hope this may give you some ideas as to how you may do it.

Cheers, Chris (NZ)

PS I also tried threading through holes and quickly gave up that idea
as a bad joke.

<?xml:namespace prefix="v" /><?xml:namespace prefix="o" /> Okay, I've
always thought of myself as a capable do it yourselfer. Years of
experience with woodworking, metal fabrication, etc. But tonight when I

tried to place the .25" copper tubing in my form, for my primary coil,
all
my previous experience went out the window and I turned into some kind
of
greenhorn with two hands that were all thumbs. GOD there has to be an
easy
way to accomplish this task. Would someone be so kind as to tell me how

this can be accomplished without totally screwing up the roll of copper
or
without the use of drugs. LOL
All advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I started out
trying to feed the tubing through the holes in my supports but quickly
found out that wouldn't work. I then cut the support in half along the
centerline of the holes thinking this would ease the problem and that
then
I could fasten the upper half back down to hold everything in place.
This
isn't working either since you cant keep the individual turns in place
while you try and place the other turns.

Thanks,

Emmett Secrest
