RE: Neon Shunts & PSSTC Components

Original poster: "john cooper" <tesla-at-tesla-coil-dot-com>

Regarding shunts in the neon xfrs, I was recently told by another coiler
that he took a 15kV, 60mA Franceformer, de-potted it, and removed ALL of
the shunts! It kicked a** and required no external reactor per his
reporting. Has anyone else tried this? As I'm about ready to put a half
dozen of these in the sun for 6+ hours prior to using a chisel to remove
the cases for freezer time to remove the majority of the asphalt and then
into the oven, I am fairly interested. I have completely dismantled one
for thorough cleaning, taking care to keep the plates in order, before
re-assembly, leaving out 7 or 8 of the shunts to up the ampherage but have
never considered removing them all. Also, anyone have any hi-voltage
windings for this transformer? A few spares always makes me feel better.

FWIW - Regarding the PSSTC's, I've been accumulating the components and
have the majority of them in stock and am always up to discussing trades,
whatcha got?
