Additional info:
I used TL494 for square wave generation with 5% dead time.
A h-bridge consisting of transistors TIP31 and TIP32 on each leg drives the
primary of the GDT.
There were two GDTs one for each leg of the IGBT H Bridge.
Each GDT has 3 wires bifilar wound. (one primary, 2 secondary)
12 turns of PVC insulated single-strand wire (wires used for connections in
bread boards !!!)
(May be too much of leakage inductance was a problem ?)
