There is such thing as full wave rectified AC,  excuse my improper use of
the term.

You're basically saying the same thing I am...  I'm not arguing what CW is,
I'm saying that the faster on and off of the ISSTC is one of the reasons it
has such large sparks.  If Steve turned the interuptor to always on,  I bet
he'd get small bushy sparks.
