   I have made many aluminum ribbon primaries in the past, all worked 
well.  Corona is not an issue because the ribbon spiral acts more like a 
flat plate in terms of corona,  the E field is evenly distributed accross 
the ribbon.  I have never had a corona issue in any of my coils up to 14 kV 
primary voltages.  I'd do it.
