FYI - MWS industries has a massive amount of magnet wire information on

Probably more than anyone wants to know ;-)
They also sell things like #24 silver square wire with quadruple build
bondable 180C polyurethane insulation, or just about any kind of other
wire, if you can afford it! They would be happy to do that in gold wire
too ;-))
