Pay the price --- get it down professionally --- your eyes (flying debris from sharp tungsten) shards are just not worth the risk. Your eye is certainly worth more than the few hundred dollars it will cost to get it done right the first time. A high speed RSG is simply no place to take unneccessary risk of injury.

How about putting the electrodes in the freezer (or on dry ice) to contract
them up enough so that they fit into the holes while they are cold?
