Hi Greg,

I built that toroid from a 30' length of 12" diameter super-
flexible stretch and compress aluminum duct hose (part #
       5525K49) from McMaster-Carr (www.mcmastercarr.com)
It comes VERY compressed to only about 36" legnth IIRC
and actually has a bit of weight to it in the box. It actually took
a bit of brute strength to strecth it to the desired form by my
self and you would really need a friend to assist in this process.
It is more expensive but certainly more dent RESISTANT
(not dent PROOF) than the cheaper flex duct that McMas-
ter also sells. After forming it into the desired toroid, I wrapped
it with Nashua aluminum duct tape, available at Home Depot.
IIRC, it took about 3 rolls to complete the job, so at $91+ S&H
for the duct tubing plus about $13 a roll for the tape, I have a
giant
      12 x 56 toroid for < $150 - not quite as pretty as a professionally
spun aluminum toroid from O.W. Landergren, but probably about
$2K cheaper and it still makes them long sparks! ;^))

      David Rieben
