Re: Faraday cage with Paint

Don't know anything about the particular paint you have found. Have
used Electrodag 550 from Acheson Colloids Co, Port Huron, Mich. for
electrodes in plasma globes and coating capacitor plates. Know that
this product(Electrodag) is used to coat the inside of cabinets as
faraday cage for HV equipment. Also seen nickel plating(.0002" to
.0005" thick) inside plastic cabinets and crt housings used as faraday
cage as well. Thus, concept may not be as crazy as it first appears.

There's a big difference between use of a moderately conductive material like aquadag for electrostatic shielding and use as RF shielding. Nickel plating the inside of the room would help, but I'd bet that use of the paint originally suggested would produce results too small to measure. Chicken wire would be far better and cheaper, even if it's kind of a nuisance to install. Standard practice in high-quality "shielded rooms" is two use two separated layers of very fine mesh bronze screen wire, with great attention to low-resistance door seals.
