Well if you make the coil a little taller, then you can install a
larger NST at some point in the future if you'd like.  For example
you could make the secondary 19" tall using 28awg wire.  This
would be the same height as my TT-42 coil which uses a 12/30
NST and gives 42" sparks using a synchronous rotary gap.  This
would give somewhere around 1300 or 1400 turns which is a very
good number of turns to use in a modern style coil.  For the TT-42
coil, I wanted to keep the coil somewhat compact so I placed a
smaller sub-toroid under the main toroid to prevent the sparks from
striking the primary coil.
