Hi Eric,

Increase the proximity between the two coils. It may not take much. 
Raise the secondary up maybe 1/4" or 1/2" at most. As long as there 
is not "turn to turn short", just rid the coil of the carbon and 
recoat. But, prevent the same by increasing the proximity between coils.
