You're on your way! I have one piece of advice. If you don't have a drill
press, get one. They are the single most useful thing you can have when it
comes to building a Tesla Coil.

Hello all

new to the list an finally acting on the bug that bit me 30 years ago,
building a coil.
So far I'm in the gathering the components stage . have the following :

 15kv 30ma neon sign transformer
components for a RQ type spark gap
100ft of 1/2 inch copper tubing
50 ft superflex GTO-15 hv wire

Next on the list is the capacitor.. using the various calculators out
there I figure I need about .007uf ? resonant for the transformer would be
.0053 but from what I have read using a static spark gap you need a bit more
.. is this enough? I am planning on a MMC using Cornell-Dubillier
942C20P15K-F one string of 19 for .0078uf and 38kv or.. should I go for a
Maxwell at .03uf and 35kv? <this capacitor thing is making my head hurt >

after that it wont be too much worry to get a secondary wound I have access
to a coil winding machine I haven't figured out the specs on that yet when
I get that figured I can figure out the primary .

I also have 1 833a transmitting tube I picked up somewhere but figure I
better start with a spark gap coil before I try my hand at a tube coil

So my fine fellows.. does it sound like I'm on the right track or have I
gone horribly astray? any comments and or advise would be greatly
appreciated .
