Use 4.5:1 H/D ratio.

Use 1,200 turns on sec coil.

With a fixed dia, multiply x 4.5 to get the correct winding length.

Divide this length, in inches, by 1,200 turns --- this gives the correct
wire OD.

Look up the wire OD (use twin coated hi-temp wire) to determine the exact
wire guage.

For large coils, greater than 18 inch dia., go to 1,000 turns on the sec.
Use same procedure but divide winding length by 1,000.

Hey guys,
Does anybody out there have a good table of approximations, for
recommended wire gauge, coil diameter, and H/W ratio (example 3-in diameter,
28AWG, 5/1 H/W), from small sizes to large (like 3-in to 18-in). Just
sometihg I want to tuck away for future reference, thanks.
Scott Bogard.
