I'm currently in mid-late design stages of my first coil, living in outback South Australia ( Roxby Downs )  I would be very interested in an Australian Teslathon.

Peter Terren's website contains a little information on compliance of West Australian standards. Can be viewed here: http://www.tesladownunder.com/Misc.htm#Australian%20safety%20requirements
Each state could be different, so it would pay to check with The Office of the Technical Regulator, as it is called in SA. However, you could call Consumer Affairs to see who you need to speak to in your state. I wouldn't call them if you don't have a Faraday cage. . .
