[TCML] removing transformer windings

Hello all,
   I recently removed an old filament transformer from an electric 
organ. It is a giant autotransformer weighing about 12 lbs. Does anyone 
have good suggestions for removing the windings to rewind it for a 
different voltage? I am trying to use a hammer and hacksaw, but this 
seems to be taking quite a bit of time. Also, it is not an E core 
transformer. It seems to just be one piece of iron.
