Hi Chris,

Get yourself one of these:

Like scrap 3/8 or 1/2 inch copper or aluminum and make a larger 
radius corona shield (connected to the top of the coil voltage).

The voltage likes to arc of the "edge" of the wire.  But this makes 
that edge far wider and stops the arcing...
