RE: Toroids

Hi Terry, et al,

There's no rain on the parade. The PIRANHA II is a work of art as well as a
technological innovation!

Perhaps a better route would be to use dyer duck to bring the coil up, and
as time allows build the adjustable ball top load. Do you feel it needs to
be adjustable at this point? I am looking at using 6" OD Lexan or
Polystyrene. Is there any value to wind to 24" and add a little more
inductance to the primary?

I have way too many projects going at once right now, a three phase 20KVA
Diesel generator to power a six pulse 28KV transformer for a 12" coil, a
Geek capacitor charging system by Steve Ward and Sean Taylor for wire
exploding with the big Geek caps, and rebuilding my 8" coil for a 14.4KV,
5KVA potential transformer.

Best Regards, and Thanks for so many things,

Jim Mora

Hi,

I don't want to "rain on the parade" :-p

But PIRANHA-II's top load cost $105 band new... Using "ball" technology...

I have not got the PIRANHA site back up "much yet", But the far
cheaper "clean and pro looking top load" was one if its key features...

But $325 - $105 = $220 beer money ;o))

Cheers,

         Terry
