almost anything will work

cardboard? (for a quick and dirty one)

White polyethylene cutting boards sawn into strips and notched to 
hold the primary. (drill holes, saw through holes)

Sheet plastic, with the tubing held down by nylon cable ties

Wood

Hand rubbed Ebonite with fine oil finish?

Pretty much up to you...

Just don't use something that's a conductor.
