Subject: Spark gap for capacitor charging

Hello,

I have another question, which is mostly theoretical. What would the
effects on a coil be if there were a small static spark gap in series with
the tank capacitor at all times, even (particularly) while charging?
Would it fire and then charge the capacitor? And would it quench before
fully charging it? If so, about how high would the voltage rise in the
capacitor before quenching?

Thanks,
Chris
