Re: [TCML] Spark gap Resistance

You mean Bert. When it comes to spark physics, Bert is "the" man!

Take care,
Bart

Thank you very much gentlemen.
Bart there's enough info there to do a thesis!
I know full and well about the difficulties of modeling plasma, I guess I was hoping that someone arrived at a suitable approximation. I don't look for exact numbers when I model TC's because of the uncertnty of the spark gap and load. I look for trends and approximate magnitudes. but I'm seeing something that doesn't make sense, which I'll start a different thread about. I guess I'll just have to do some ringdown tests with the oscope and compare damp down rate and notches and back approximate.
BTW the difference between using 1,2,3 or 4 ohms for a spark gap is big.
Until I read about the 220k-1.5pf/ft approximation, I had arrived at ~2Meg
            parallel to C2.

Subject: [TCML] Spark gap Resistance

Does anyone have any data on spark gap resistance?
and for that matter Streamer impedance?
I've been doing some simulations, and for the lack of any better number I've been using 4 ohms for spark gap R's and have tried using 220kohm+1.5pf'/ft for streamers, but doesn't always seem to look right in the sims. Trying to characterize plasma is always difficult at best.

Thanks

Dave
