Re: [TCML] unknown tube...



Hi, I am not a lamp expert but worked with some high pressure uv tubes and
flash lamps......the envelope on a halogen lamp has to run very hot, finger
prints causes a hot spot on the surface and failure of the lamp
envelope......this is also true of short arc lamps and the such....radio
tubes, at least recieving tubes doesnt bother them much but transmitting
tubes the envelope will be comprimised by finger prints and the such..
going after the envelope with alcohol will clean it, however usually erasing
the tube number printed on the envelope......
normal precedure when installing transmitting tubes is to handle them with
rubber gloves or by holding onto the base.....so as to not make a hot spot
in the envelope. cul brian f.
