[TCML] Ferrite Beads for Filtering?

These days ferrite beads are cheap & plentiful from electronics surplus outlets. I wonder if these are suitable as Tesla coil power supply protection devices?

According to Wikipedia,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrite_bead

RFI suppression ferrite beads do not behave like ideal inductors, but actually absorb and dissipate energy, like a frequency selective dummy load. Is that right? A few of these threaded onto the HV power supply lines (between the TC and the HVPS) might provide effective RF and transient protection. Has anyone tried them? Is anything obviously, fatally wrong with this idea?

Cheers,

Greg
