RE: [TCML] "Wall Wart" Transformers

Hi Friends,

It may be instructive to point out we are dealing with 60hz or worse 50hz
AC. Core size reduces dramatically as we move up into higher frequencies.

A new person may want to know this is why airplane transformers are
generally run at 400hz - to save core weight.

However, the frequencies of say 60hz laminated cores can handle are limited
due to heat losses and eddy currents. This is the domain of HF ferrite
cores!

You have the right idea on turns ratio. As almost always, there is lots of
other stuff to consider too. HF is becoming more the norm as SS components
can handle higher currets.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but no this will NOT work. These transformers
can't put up with that kind of voltage. These transformers are also far too
small to provide a usable amount of power.
