Sorry if Im repeating myself, I may have mentioned this before.
I have found (IMO anyway) a cheap, quick and fun way to observe the
operation of an SRSG is by simply shining an adjustable strobe light on it.
I have a couple that I use for Halloween and they can be found at any party
supply store.
It gives a great real-time visual perspective on things.
I tried using a florescent light at every angle and intensity and was never
able to make out more than a very vague X.
I even used a UV light and florescent colored straws on the electrodes,
better, but still a bit of a blur.
The strobe gives a great freeze-frame and any variation is easy to detect.
It is also helpful to mark one electrode with a Sharpie and adjust the
strobe timing so that you see only that one mark, that way you know its
flashing at 120 and not 240.
Interestingly enough I have never thought about this until I just typed it,
we cant see that many frames per second can we? IDK. Maybe its only 60 or
even just 30 of them that the human eye can pick out.
Either way, it works great.
