Re: [TCML] Does this work for tuning the TC?

Hi Stefan,

This should work. However, you may need to readjust the coupling to compensate for the increased system coupling coefficient once you remove the regulating coil.

Hello,
I want to use a "regulation coil" for finding the exact primary taping
point of my TC. The tuning coil is a heavy wound coil with mechanically
variable inductance, also Tesla himself had one in his colorado springs
lab I think.
My plan is, to put this coil I have (Inductance is variable between 0-70
Microhenries) in series with the TC-primary and when running the TC,
changing the inductance of the regulating coil until the sparks reaching
maximum length. Then, I measure the total inductance of this arrangement
(Primary + regulationg coil + inductance of the wires in series) with a
simple LCR Meter. Then I remove the regulating coil, and taping the
primary at exactly the point which gives me the inductance measured before.

Does this work? Anybody did this? Then sorry about the question but
don't know how to find this topic in the list archives.
