Pure argon runs about $50 per 77 cubic feet (empty bottle costs about $200 that size, but rental
bottles are about $5/month)

C25 (75% argon 25% Co2) does not work too well in HV displays. Cheaper than pure argon ($40 per 77
cubic feet) but avoid for this application.

There is also a "tri-mix" which contains argon helium and nitrogen, more expensive, (recommended for
welding stainless steel, but most folks around here use pure argon due to the lower cost. They claim
it works just as well, I have not tried- only pure argon which works just fine for me on stainless
and aluminum)

Then there is dry nitrogen used by HVAC/refigeration guys and available at most welding and some
HVAC suppliers.

Most welding suppliers as well as party shops carry helium (for balloons)
