Re: [TCML] Marx Generator

Let me start by saying that I have not built a Marx generator. I bought a
big pile of doorknob caps at a flea market that seemed to be well suited to
the task, but hearing reports of the EMP from Marx generators taking out
nearby appliances and computers got me spooked. I'd be interested in
hearing the experience of others in that regard...

I think that if the CDE caps were seriesed to achieve the proper voltage
rating, they would do just fine. I believe that in a MG, the dielectric
properties are not as critical as in a Tesla coil. I've seen plans for MG's
using ceramic disk capacitors, which could never be used in a TC. The cost
of ceramic disk caps would be a tiny fraction of what a CDE array would cost
- probably better to start with that.
