[TCML] RE: Fixing TC

Hi list,
I'm in my first year at the University of the Fraser Valley, and am fixing their faulty tesla coil. They had ordered it off ebay, and the thing is a wreck. First of all, it has a large black NST but it has no label on it - can I assume it's a 15kV? How can I find out? Furthermore, there is no filter for the NST - is this necessary? It uses yellow GE 42L2682 capacitors rated for 1200V and 0.68uF - are these good for TCs? At its safety gap it had at the midpoint between the two bolts a third connection directly to the RF ground - that's not right is it?
I might post some more as I commence the repair (the thing is really messed up), but thanks for the replies!
