Agreed.
But if the zinc is compromised, you have no galvanic protection from aggressive substances.

Hmm, I don't think corrosion by NO2 or O3 would be a big issue. I'm more concerned about the arc destroying the galvanising at the actual points of contact. I guess time will tell!

I believe NOx is also generated, which forms nitric acid in the presence of moisture.
