Re: [TCML] Testing HVdiodes

Good Question, I also bought 5 pieces of used 30kV / 750mA diodes some days ago. A good method to test them: simply connect for example an OBIT transformer and charge a HV capacitor. When the cap is charging and holds it's voltage, then the diodes should be okay.

Stefan

Subject: [TCML] Testing HVdiodes

Hi All,

I recently picked up a couple of diodes (5" black plastic rectangular rods) rated 200 ma @ 80 KV. A standard diode checker doesn't seem to work with ones this big. Is there an easy way to test them before they go in the circuit?
