Re: [TCML] Base

A dirty trick to use is if you know someone with a uniform, simply call McMaster or Grainger and ask if what you want is in stock, then tell them you're gonna send someone out to pick it up, with a borrowed uniform, and he'll pay cash and be reimbursed out of petty cash.

You can even buy stuff that normally requires a State licence, like HVAC stuff. Why should I need a State license to buy a furnace igniter when it dies before Thanksgiving guests arrive?

Makes sense. As a local government who spent thousands a month, we probably got the deeper discount.

It has been my experience with our local Grainger's that they give deep discounts to corporations, moderate discounts to licensed contractors who are "regulars" small discounts to licensed "drop-ins" and full retail to casual buyers. So it seems that whether they are competitive in price or not depends on whose money you're spending and how often.

Depends on what you're buying. I spent nearly 24 years buying industrial
stuff...

Not in my experience.

Grainger is often cheaper than McMaster Carr.

Polypropylene is another excellent choice.

I find McMaster to be an excellent source for small sized pieces. Not
usually the cheapest, but typically competitive.

Of course they have UHMW as well, but I think PP is cheaper.
