Ho Stefan, ive worked on a few pumped VDG but ran in to problems using my solid state HV sources. In particular charge would seem to accumulate back into the HV supply and cause catasrophic failures of downstream devices.

I started work on a Neon transfer driven version but switched to building a tesla coil instead :)

Hello,

it seems that only self-exited van de graaf generators are built by you 
folks. Why not use an external DC source (10-20kV) and spray the charge on 
the belt, like all big generators do the job? Wouldn't that be much easier 
to realize than dealing with triboelectric scale and humidity problems?
