Gentlemen, (are there any female coilers?)
I have not joined in on this thread as I have little to add to the
discussion.
But I am glad to have followed it and do agree with Teslalabor on the last
post.
I realize that there are many coilers out there that actually move the
knowledge base forward but that most are only really interested in big
sparks.
My interest in magnifiers was based on the initial understanding that you
could get bigger sparks with a magnifyer and that it seemed that it was
possible by just adding a third coil to an otherwise two coil device.
From this thread and from what I have read elsewhere especially Richard
Hull's papers I would say that while it is possible to get bigger sparks it
is much more difficult to actually do so.
The value here is that I will now focus on building the two coil machine
that seems more likely to perform well and be much easier to build and tune.
