Ikea/Amazon/etc. carry spun steel bowls in various diameters up to 14
inches. They are almost perfect hemisphere and have no lip on the edges.

These are perfect for VDG terminal so should probably work well enough.
They are very cheap less than $20 for the 14 inch.
