RE: 25 Kilavolts -at- 2 amps!

Hello H2

Don't dream, make one! Start collecting three phase industrial control
transformers (200 to 300 pounds). Knock out the straight laminations.
After you amass a large pile of E laminations, rent a metal cleaver
and cut out straight sections from the E's on a weekend. Then symmetrically
as
possible, assemble a rectangular core. Use channel ducting to squeeze
the core tight. Well you get the idea. The core will have lots of
discontinuities, but so what---your building for a hobby, not some ultra
precision project. Go to http://home.att-dot-net/~allencoilpage and build
the auto winder to wind your high voltage coils. Use that transformer
design engine I mentioned in an earlier posting. Its a major building
and thinking project, but eventually you will have your own bombarder.
Of course you will have to beef up your service box. If the pig on the
pole outside is only 15 kva (like here), then you might have problems
running the thing with the pedal to the floor. About the choke, make one.

So far I have dissembled 3 control transformer, but still not enough
laminations. I'm trying to get by with only the straight laminations,
without cutting the E's. I've gotten hold of a matrix printer for that
auto winder. I think it can be done.
