HAHAHA, you'll NEVER guess what happened to me today
im going out to a restrant right, and I see this guy with a ladder up to the big NST in front
so im like 'hey you guys go on ahead, I wanna take to that repairment out front'
talk to him and ask him if he knew where I could find an old NST, any size really.
he directs me to his truck :)
$25 later, im puting a 15kv 30ma NST in my trunk and 5 feet of 15kv rated wire with 4 feet of outdoor insulation sheath :) was raining mind you, but it was outdoor rated
I take it home, hook some stiff wires to the windings...
ARCS!
Take one winding to case
ARCS
take other winding to case
WTF NOTHING OMG! ... move wire abit closer to case
ARCS! YAAAAAAAAA

Made a kick*** jacob ladder with it ;) allmost done my bigger toroid and now I need to make a NST filter I guess.
Unfortualy I don't have much money, so I was wondering if I could use 10watt 1kohm resistors, and mabey use some series inductors (is pancake style or pencil style better as far as wire per inductance goes?) and a small value popbottle cap across the NST to ground on each lead with a sparkgap across em.

The 12K or 15K 60ma ones can be had for $100-150 with shipping. I often am
able to get the 15K 30ma ones for $40 with shipping.
