I have a closet with one wall against the outside of the house. It
tends to develop a mildrew aroma when the weather is hunid. I put a
small spherical UV germicidal lamp (10w?, about an inch and a half in
diameter and requires a ballast) in a box with a fan to circulate the
air and found that, once the closet had been aired out thoroughly, it
did a pretty good job of odor elimination. The reason I used this
particular lamp rather than one of the tubular ones was that I got a
bunch of them for about 25 cents each a long time ago. Gave most of
them away but still had a couple when the smell came.
