Is the primary cap across the transformer so regrettable? I have always run
mine this way. My 32 inch coil generates 96 inch sparks (ie 3 times ratio)
although I do run at a high break rate of 1200bps. I have not been able to
achieve similar results with the spark gap across the transformer.

Cap across the transformer makes bigger sparks, smoking calms me down and
unsafe sex feels better. All three have their proponents and everyone knows
someone who has done it for years without dire consequences. All three do put
higher stress on the system and put certain parts at higher risk. I can't endorse
any of the three actions. Do you feel lucky today?
