I built this coil bang on to specs (geometry, not electrics), and the most
I ever got was a thin 16cm spark. Harry Goldman of the TCBA advised me
later on that it was a dire design! That is also the consensus on this
list I believe. FYI, I was using a tiny 250W (guess) oil transformer and a
7nF glass/foil capacitor, static unblown gap of two coach-bolts (yuk!).

I have been tempted on occasion to saw the secondary in two, to improve
the geometry, but have never had the heart! Has anyone else done this and
got better performance? (I think the wire is too thin (27swg))?
