Subject: secondary coil form
I have almost finished my coil. caps done, primary wound, RQ gap finished.
I was about to start sealing my 4" pvc pipe ready for winding when I spotted
some 7" polyethylene gas pipe at my college. I asked the workmen and they said
ok take it. What are you going to use it for? making lightning, OH that's ok
then. Must keep up the mad scientist image. I digress. My question is should I
use this as a secondary coil form instead of the 4" pvc I was planning to use?
Apart from adding more turns to my primary and having a bigger top load is there
anything else I need to change?
I will be using a 9kV 50 mA neon, 0.0177uF caps, 7 section 1"1/2 dia 2" long RQ
gap 22AWG wire. 3/8 dia primary. 240 volt 50 Hz supply. Any comments welcome.
