if you want a flyback that isn't potted, find an old color TV from the mid
to late 1960s, or an old B&W TV - color had higher voltage (30KV vs 10KV) -
a tube type TV will have an unpotted flyback - just cut the primary windings
off, leaving the secondary, and wind your own primary on it - a few turns, a
center tap, and a few more turns (10 each side of the tap seems typical).
