Well, I would recommend (between the two sizes) the 18awg (and maybe smaller).
The 14awg will have higher losses and the primary circuit will also have higher
losses. Personally, I would look at somewhere between 15 and 20 turns on the
primary with your cap size, then decide on the secondary wire size. At least
this way, you cut the primary gap losses (the greatest contributor) down and
the secondary can simply follow in wire size and turns for the highest Q
possible taking into account the power applied.
