Yep, I guessed 1043 turns.

That range -2" to +2" does seem to be where all the action is. You'll
get greater accuracy if you can step up the primary current. A method
I use is to energise a standard toroidal mains transformer via a
variac, and pass a single turn of welding cable through the center of
the core. You can usually get 50 amps induced that way. Pass the
cable through a couple of times for 100 amps or more.
