Phil,

I never measured teh torque, but I noticed that a 1/20 HP sync
motor is about the same size as a 1/10 HP induction motor, so
I'm assuming that the torque is about half.  Very rough estimate  :)
I figure a commercial salient pole sync motor probably gives about
the same torque as a modified motor for a given size.
